Unit 3 - The Final Judgment & New Heavens and Earth
Overview
When you look at the world through a biblical worldview, you see that this is a broken, fallen world. This section will examine what God is doing about this situation and how he plans to redeem a people for Himself and restore the fallen world they live in. God has revealed a glimpse of His future plans for our world in the Bible – sometimes in plain language, sometimes in symbols and figures. Christians are naturally fascinated with the idea of knowing what the future holds and our enthusiasm for unlocking secrets sometimes leads us to create speculative interpretations of passages that have to do with eschatology (the study of the end times). The goal of this section is to help you approach Scripture soberly and to form an understanding of the end times that does not go beyond what Scripture teaches yet fully embraces the beauty of all that God promises for His people.
In this Journey Section you will:
Learn about the second coming of Christ and various views about how it will occur
Consider four different views of the millennium of Revelation 20, with a particular focus on amillennialism
Explore biblical teaching on the final judgment, the new heavens and earth, and how that informs the way we live today
